Looking good on a “Blah” Overcast Day

Today was one of those overcast “blah” days. It’s humid, yet it’s got that chilly breeze, and whether or not its 9AM or 4PM, it feels like 10AM all. day. long.

So what do you wear when you’re facing the challenge of an overcast day? Well when i think of overcast light, i feel like it resembles a luminescent mirror in a mall makeup counter. The light is bright, yet blank. There isn’t any sun to kiss your cheeks, and there’s no snow to mask your flaws and make you look amazing. Overcast casts an unnatractive light on people and naturally just makes people feel, well, gross. When faced with overcast light, you have to find a way to look just right. Not too much color, or you’ll stand out in a bad way, and don’t jump to the sweatpants and hoodies just yet! Thats just throwing in the towel. Here’s how myself and Macy Sanchez tackled the dreaded overcast weather blues.

There’s actually something really really cool about today. Macy chose to wear dark colors and i chose to go lighter, so here’s an example of both! To see the full outfit pictures, you can check out the gallery for a ton of more in depth photos of everything.

So today i chose to wear some of my new stuff. I chose brown motorcycle boots (not pictured in this photo), my maroon floral crochet sweater, a floral ruffle skirt, a denim jacket and a Cloche’ hat. For jewelry i went simple with a Juicy Couture Charm necklace in gold, and a skinny bow bangle (not pictured).

Macy went for the dark look, wearing black leggings, black knee-high boots, a loose fitting tee and to add some glam, a Diane Von Furstenberg sequin Kimono.

Leggings and some boots with a loose tee is like, the easiest outfit you can pull off while still looking stylish and staying warm. The boots add fashion, leggings add comfort and the loose tee balances out the tight leggings so you don’t look like a mother doing morning aerobics. The loose shirt adds proportion to an outfit. throw on a cute jacket or long cardigan and you’ve got the perfect lazy day outfit!

We both chose a red tone of lipstick, macy going a little bit brighter than me, which is totally encouraged  when wearing an almost all black outfit. Use the opportunity of wearing all black to make your lips pop! It’s an awesome look.
