100 Degree Weather doesn’t stop Fall Fashion in California

How many of us all are begging for Fall to be here? The cosy knit sweaters, the leather boots, the dark, straight leg jeans and wool hats are looking sooo appealing right now. Unfortunately for us California girls, we have to wait. Right now it’s peaking at 100 degrees and its freaking October. We know we can’t be the only ones who want to feel some chilly air and dress like a New York fashionista. Here’s a little tutorial on how to bring the deep Fall style we all want into 100 degree weather, featuring our model Macy Sanchez who’s worked in CosmoGirl! and Seventeen Magazines. Her style today is the perfect mix of Summer and Fall.

Making Fall style show through your clothes while it’s blazing hot is actually really simple. All you need is a warmer, more earth toned color pallet. Instead of wearing your blue and green hibiscus flowered sundress, opt for a brown cotton twill dress or a maroon knit peplum dress. Macy Sanchez is shown wearing a yellow vintage Juicy Couture sundress with floral detailing.

Shoes

You can still wear your favorite style boots, just know whether or not your feet will be sweating the nile river after an hour. You know your shoes. Instead of wearing your Ugg boots or your fur-lined moccasins, wear something that doesnt have any lining such as motorcycle boots, ballet flats, riding boots and even booties. You should stay away from wearing your fur-lined shoes until it’s much colder, since you don’t want to ruin and nap up the softness of them with your heat and sweat. Shoes like Uggs and moccasins last longer when they’re taken care of and only worn on cold days and always with socks! Macy Sanchez is shown wearing black satin ballet flats.

Accessories

Accessories are the perfect way to put a final touch on a Summer to Fall transition look. Accessories pull the outfit together, without adding extra heat or bulkiness. Something as simple as a hat can complete your look. The cool thing about hats is that they’re a year-round trend. In summer we would all wear our straw fedoras and floppy sun hats. To take that look to fall, you might want to wear hats that are made of wool fabric or knit. Also, switch up your hat style. Instead of wearing a floppy sun hat, try Cloche’ hats, Bowler Hats and Wool Fedoras, such as the one Macy Sanchez wears (note: she’s wearing her dad’s hat!) The best thing about hats is that a hat is a hat, and no matter what material it’s made of, it will almost never make your head more hot then it would be if you were wearing a summer hat.

Macy Sanchez keeps it simple on a sunny day in California and shows us that being stylish and eager for Fall is totally doable. With just the simple change of color scheme, some cute black flats and a matching wool fedora to top it off, achieving a warm and holiday-esque feel is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

  1. Love Macy’s dress, what a lovely fall colour (even if it is super warm). Good choice to add the fedora! I know how it feels though, I’m in Vancouver and we’re still getting really warm days too!

  2. Definitely a problem I am identifying with right now! In fact, I tried the wool hat thing recently on my blog =). Can’t wait for the weather to cool down here!
